Brussels, 12 February 2026 – White smoke has finally risen above Brussels: the Region now has a new government. Beci, the Brussels Chamber of Commerce and Industry, congratulates the parties that reached an agreement and welcomes the compromises made to allow Brussels to move forward.
“We have three years left in this legislature. Three years to prove that Brussels can decide, act and deliver results, and to make it a Region where it is good to do business. We welcome the sense of responsibility that has been shown. Now it is time for implementation,” says Thierry Geerts, CEO of Beci.
For Beci, the key issue is now the Region’s capacity to act. Security, cleanliness, mobility, budgetary discipline and administrative simplification must be among the immediate priorities.
The Region still has the time needed to launch structural projects by 2029: redevelopment of the Audi Brussels site, acceleration of procedures, support for employment and training, and improvement of the living environment. These actions will need to form the basis of a solid record to present to Brussels residents at the end of the legislature.
Lisa Isnard, Secretary General of Beci, stresses: “We will continue to be the voice of Brussels businesses and a demanding partner in implementing the Region’s priorities. We will fully support any initiative that strengthens the Region’s economic attractiveness.”
Beci assures the new government of its constructive cooperation.
