Brussels, February 13, 2026 – Beci, the voice of Brussels-based businesses, welcomes several strategic directions it has been advocating for many months.

Beci is pleased to see safety established as a regional priority, coordinated across federal and municipal levels. The appointment of a Regional Anti-Drug Commissioner and the announced investments in railway station security are steps toward a safer public space, an essential prerequisite for economic activity and the well-being of Brussels residents.

Mobility and major urban projects, including the redevelopment of the Audi site in Forest, the development of Tram 15, the Reyers Mediapark, and the Schuman GovTech hub, will further enhance the Region’s attractiveness.

Regarding employment, the strengthening of support for job seekers from the very first month, the refocusing of Actiris resources toward personalized coaching, and a clear emphasis on labor-shortage professions were key expectations for employers.

Commitments to administrative simplification, the reduction of permit processing times, and the "once-only" principle are highly anticipated signals. "Simplifying procedures means freeing up time and energy for entrepreneurship," emphasizes Thierry Geerts, CEO of Beci.

Beci will remain vigilant regarding budgetary balance and the concrete implementation of these measures, which will require clear and sustainable trade-offs. While awaiting the fiscal roadmap, Beci will ensure that the tax burden on businesses does not increase.

"Between now and 2029, three full years of the mandate remain. This is a demanding timeframe, but it is sufficient to deliver results if priorities are maintained," states Lisa Isnard, Secretary General of Beci.

Beci assures the new government of its constructive collaboration to guarantee a framework conducive to business development and the continued dynamism of Brussels.
