Become your own developer with Claude Code
Practical 2-day training in French — 12 & 13 November 2026 — Maximum 15 participants
Claude Code is an AI agent that works directly on your computer: it reads and creates files, runs programs and builds tools. In practical terms, it does what you would normally ask a developer to do: automate a repetitive task, process hundreds of files at once, extract and cross-reference data, or build a small custom tool for your business. You describe what you need in French, you guide and test it. Claude Code writes the code.
This training is aimed at non-developer professionals who are already comfortable with generative AI and want to take the next step towards greater autonomy: reducing their dependence on IT teams or external providers for small day-to-day tooling needs.
The format is firmly hands-on: little theory, lots of practice, and a practical project chosen by each participant based on their own business needs. Each participant leaves with a working tool, a reproducible working method and the skills to continue independently.
Learning objectives
By the end of the two-day training, participants will be able to:
- Install and configure Claude Code on their computer and understand how the agent works (context, permissions, costs).
- Translate a business need into an actionable instruction for the agent: describe, break down, iterate and test.
- Automate a repetitive everyday task: batch file processing, conversions, sorting, renaming and data cleaning.
- Work with their own data: read and transform Excel, CSV or PDF files, and produce summaries, tables and reports.
- Build a small custom tool (script, web page, mini-application) that addresses a real business need.
- Check and improve the reliability of what the agent produces: test, correct, save and version their work.
- Make their practice sustainable: document their project, retain and reuse their instructions, and identify limitations and risks (sensitive data, security, dependency on the tool).
Program
The content: What a developer actually does and what Claude Code can do in their place — positioning compared with Claude.ai and Cowork
• Installation and configuration: terminal, account connection, working folder and permissions
• The minimum vocabulary needed to work with the agent: file, script, dependency, execution
• First interactions: exploring, summarising and reorganising a folder of files
Hands-on practice : Each participant installs Claude Code on their computer and runs their first commands
Guided exercise: organise, rename and document a messy folder
Deliverable : A fully operational environment and a first successfully executed script
Le contenu :
- La méthode : du besoin flou au cahier des charges, puis itérations courtes avec l’agent
- • Batch file processing: conversions, PDF merging, text extraction and CSV cleaning
- • Data: reading an Excel file, cross-referencing two sources, and producing a summary table and chart
- • Identifying a practical project from participants' own business use cases
Hands-on practice
• Exercise using participants' own files: automate a task they currently perform manually every week
• Scoping the practical project with the trainer
Deliverable : A working automation script based on a real use case, and a clearly defined practical project
Content : Du script à l’outil : page web, formulaire, mini-application, tableau de bord
• Connecting the tool to the outside world: reading an email, calendar, website or API
• Having the agent work autonomously on a longer task while maintaining control
Hands-on practice : Building the practical project: each participant develops their tool with support from the trainer
Deliverable : A functional prototype of their personal tool
Best practices: project instructions (CLAUDE.md), saving and version control, testing
- Security and limitations: sensitive data, permissions, costs and what should not be entrusted to the agent
- How to continue independently: resources, community and ideas for future projects
Hands-on practice:
- Finalisation and documentation of the practical project
- 5-minute demo by each participant and group feedback
Delivrable : A completed, documented and reusable tool, presented to the group
Prerequisites
This is an advanced and demanding training course aimed at participants who already have a good level of experience. To get the most out of it, participants must meet the following requirements:
• Good knowledge of generative AI. Regular use of Claude or an equivalent tool, with a good command of prompting (levels 1 and 2 of the AI4Brussels catalogue or equivalent experience).
• Tech-savvy profile. Comfortable using a computer, curious and not intimidated by the command line. No programming knowledge is required.
• Claude licence of at least €90 per month. Claude Code requires a Claude Max subscription, which must be taken out before the training. It can be subscribed to for the training month only.
• Personal laptop with software installation rights (Windows or Mac).
• One or two concrete use cases to bring along: a repetitive task, files to process, or a tool you have always wanted to build. This will be the working material for the two days.
A preparation email will be sent to registered participants one week before the training (subscription to the licence, equipment check and selection of use cases to bring along).
