What if we did away with the annual performance review?
Discover a simpler, more consistent and objective method in just one hour.
Friday 20 November, 9.00–10.00 am
Session in French, held in person
Beci – Avenue Louise 500 – 1050 Bruxelles
Background
As we mentioned in the article ‘The 7 deadly sins of performance reviews’, 64 per cent of employees consider performance reviews to be a waste of time that does not help them perform better.
And yet, thousands of hours continue to be devoted each year to this ritual that few people actually appreciate: neither employees, nor managers, nor even HR.
Aim of the session
The aim is not to call performance appraisal into question, but rather the way in which it is carried out.
We will show that it is possible to replace the traditional annual appraisal with a simpler, more continuous and more objective system, without creating a bureaucratic HR nightmare.
What to expect
In this 45-minute micro-conference, followed by a 15-minute discussion, we will cover:
- the seven deadly sins of the annual performance review: why this model is now showing its limitations;
- the DOING/BEING matrix, a simple and original alternative to the annual performance review.
The session will conclude with a mini-debate centred on a deliberately provocative question: ‘Why do annual appraisal interviews persist, despite all their flaws?’
At the end of the session, each participant will receive a summary sheet outlining the key takeaways and the method presented.
